Attorney Eric Ladley is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (“CELA®”) with a practice focused in the areas of Long-Term Care Planning, Estate Administration, Estate Planning, Estate Income Tax, and Guardianships. The National Elder Law Foundation issued Attorney Ladley’s elder law certification.
​
Eric frequently helps clients protect their assets when facing imminent long-term care costs. He also works with clients to plan for a secure future. He has protected assets from the cost of nursing home care through the use of trusts and other Medicaid planning techniques, as well as reviewed CCRC and other contracts to give clients insight into these often lengthy and complex documents.
​
He has hands on experience with all aspects of estate administration, including Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax returns, estate income tax returns, estate tax returns, IRA distributions, settlement agreements, and accountings.
​
He also prepares clients to face financial and healthcare emergencies by using and activating financial powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, Wills, and asset protection trusts.
​
Eric is the author and editor of the Seventh Edition of “Pennsylvania Inheritance and Estate Tax” published by George T. Bisel Company, Inc. He also is a frequent lecturer, including the following topics:

Eric is a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association and past member of the Lycoming Bar Association. He served as chair of the Elder Law Section of the Lycoming Bar Association for several years.

Eric is a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania. After graduating from George Washington University, with a major in Political Science and a minor in journalism, he returned to his home state to attend The Penn State Dickinson School of Law where he was a member of The Federalist Society and The Christian Legal Society, and where he worked in The Elder Law Clinic.
​
The CELA designation issued by the National Elder Law Foundation, was established by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the only nationally recognized group for elder law attorneys.
​
The certification is both recognized and approved as a specialization in elder law by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and American Bar Association.

PERSONAL:
Prior to becoming an attorney, Eric worked for ten years in journalism as a reporter and copy editor for daily newspapers, a newsletter that covered the Internet Service provider sector, and a magazine that covered the pharmaceutical industry.
